Accessibility Statement
Effective July 31, 2026 · Version 1.0
Our users are older adults, people with disabilities, and the families helping them, often under stress and often on a phone. An inaccessible site fails the people we exist to serve. We treat accessibility as a functional requirement, not a compliance formality.
Our standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
Current status: partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means most of the standard is met but not all of it, and we would rather say that plainly than claim more than we have verified. This assessment was made internally by Jagua Place Inc. on July 31, 2026. No independent third-party audit has been completed yet; one is planned and this page will be updated with the result and the auditor's name.
What we have built for
- Keyboard operation of everything, including the Ask Jagua drawer, with visible focus indicators and no keyboard traps.
- Screen reader support with semantic headings, landmarks, form labels, and live-region announcements for streaming assistant responses.
- Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and interface components.
- Text resizing to 200% without loss of content or function.
- Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- Captions and transcripts for any video or audio.
- Meaningful alternative text on informative images.
- No reliance on color alone to convey meaning, including in facility quality indicators.
- No auto-playing media and no content that flashes more than three times per second.
Known limitations
These are the gaps we know about as of the date above. We publish them rather than hide them.
- No independent audit yet. Our conformance assessment is internal. Planned for completion within six months of launch.
- State-hosted inspection documents. Facility inspection and evaluation reports are PDFs published by the State of California and linked from our facility profiles. We do not control those files and cannot guarantee their accessibility. If you cannot read one, email info@jagua.ai and we will read it to you or provide the contents in another format.
- Facility comparison tables. Complex data tables have not been fully validated across every screen reader and browser combination. A simplified single-facility view is available for every facility.
- Ask Jagua streaming responses. Assistant replies are announced to screen readers as they arrive, but announcement timing has not been tested against every assistive technology configuration. A specialist will do the same work with you directly if the assistant is not usable for you.
We publish known issues rather than hiding them, with a target remediation date for each.
Getting help another way
If any part of this site does not work for you, you do not have to use it. Email info@jagua.ai and a Jagua specialist will do the same work with you directly — by phone, by mail, or however suits you — at no cost and with no reduction in service. Tell us how you prefer to be reached and we will use that channel. We will send information in large print or by post on request.
Tell us about a barrier
Email info@jagua.ai. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology you were using if any. If email is not workable for you, write to the postal address below and we will call you back.
We acknowledge reports within two business days and give you a remediation plan with a target date within ten business days. If we cannot fix something quickly, we will provide an accessible alternative in the meantime.
Assessment approach
- Automated scanning in continuous integration on every deployment.
- Manual keyboard and screen reader testing of core flows each release: search, facility profile, the assistant conversation, disclosure acknowledgment, and appointment booking.
- Third-party audit annually, and after any significant redesign.
- Testing with users who rely on assistive technology at least annually, prioritizing older adults with low vision and limited dexterity.
